Day two of WordCamp Philadelphia 2012 was a dev day at Quorum a cool space at the Science Center. The day seemed pretty productive. For those of you that missed it, here is how it went down.
Things kicked off with Helen Hou-Sandi who is Lead User Interface Engineer with 10up, WordPress contributing developer/former recent rockstar, and a leader of the WordPress UI group skyping in to talk about how she got started contributing to WordPress and how others can as well. After that, I gave a about contributing based on one I gave the week before at Accessibility Camp DC.
After some hacking time Matt Mullenweg, founder of WordPress, joined us for a Q & A. Matt talked about the fact that WordPress is coming up on it’s tenth birthday (and said he wants to have a big party for it), how everything that you can do in Instagram could be build in WordPress and that the problem with many plugins is that they are solo developed.
There was more hacking time and I also conducted a short intro to SVN workshop for those that had never used it.
There were at least Two tickets that I know came out of the day with patches. Ensure post ID evaluates to true before adding “Edit post” tab in admin bar by Joe Anzalone and Classic and Fresh admin styles are inconsistent by Mel Choyce and pas5027 (sorry, I don’t know his actual name).
After cleaning up, a group of us made it over to Barcade for some beer, whisky, food and video games.
